Smoking has been declining worldwide for several years now. The reason: people are living more consciously and paying more attention to their health. Many people are switching to e-cigarettes to quit smoking completely or reduce their tobacco and nicotine consumption.
But should you switch to e-cigarettes, and are vape devices less harmful than regular cigarettes? This article will tell you everything you need to know if you want to switch to electronic cigarettes.

Vaping Versus Tobacco Smoking: Why E-cigarettes are Better?

E-cigarettes have several advantages over classic cigarettes, such as a variety in flavor. In addition, with any vaporizer, you get an almost unlimited choice of different types of liquid. While you are generally limited to one variety when smoking, you can choose sweet or sour flavors at your discretion.
If you are a cannabis smoker, using a dry herb vaporizer may be safer. The lack of explosive and carcinogenic substances makes vapingmore comfortable for the lungs. In addition, lower temperatures help preserve the variety's complex flavors.
The next advantage may not be obvious, but it is still noticeable because whoever switches to e-cigarettes finally gets rid of the annoying smell that smoking brings. Whether it's your home, clothes, hair, or hands, the smoke that leaves an unpleasant smell is now a thing of the past because the liquid vapor evaporates after exhaling for a short time and is odorless for a long time.
But what about the health aspect? In the following paragraphs, we will explain the effects of switching to e-cigarettes and e-cigarette liquid on your health.

The Effect of E-cigarettes on Blood Pressure

Elevated blood pressure is a typical side effect of cigarette tobacco use. The substance responsible for this is the neurotoxin nicotine. E-cigarette liquids are available in both nicotine-free and nicotine-containing versions.
With nicotine-free liquids, the increase in blood pressure due to vaping is eliminated. Unlike tobacco cigarettes, the substance is in moderate amounts in liquids with nicotine. The user can control the amount of nicotine intake in their body and thus gradually wean themselves off tobacco smoking.
Also, most vapers use liquids with low nicotine content for taste reasons. In principle, it can be said that vaping can cause an increase in blood pressure, but this is much more moderate compared to tobacco use.
Many smokers who previously suffered from high blood pressure even notice improved symptoms after switching. A study by the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Healthconfirms that all individuals with high blood pressure improved after switching to e-cigarettes.

Is Vaping Bad for Your Lungs?

Propylene glycol is the main ingredient in e-cigarette liquids. Although it has been claimed for many years that it can cause lung damage, this has now been disproved by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). As the substance in the device is only heated and not burnt, there are no tar deposits in the lungs, as would be the case with regular smoking. Therefore, there is also no carbon monoxide.
Rumors that regular use of e-cigarette vapor can cause so-called popcorn lung are also very far-fetched. Popcorn lung disease (Bronchiolitis Obliterans) is a serious lung disease characterized by small lung volumes and persistent bronchial inflammation.
The trigger was the necessary diacetyl, a natural oil flavoring, which until a few years ago was present in small doses in some e-cigarette liquids. However, almost all European manufacturers are now completely phasing out this substance, also found in higher doses in conventional cigarettes.
Whether e-cigarette vapor damages macrophages in the lungs in the same way as tobacco smoke remains an open question. Until now, evidence for this has only been found in laboratory studies but not in live humans. However, a long-term study by Cancer Research UKstates that vaping e-cigarettes is considered safer than smoking.

Does Vaping Affect Skin?

It is no secret that regular cigarette smoking negatively affects your skin. A cigarette contains over 4,800 chemicals, about 90 of which are carcinogenic. The body tries to eliminate them through the skin and clogs the pores.
Skin irritation, redness, acne, and a gray, unrefreshed complexion are typical effects of regular cigarette smoking. On top of that, the high nicotine content impairs blood circulation, which causes your skin to age faster as cell regeneration is impaired.
But what about e-cigarettes? The balance of pollutants in e-cigarette vapor is 95% lower than in cigarette smoke, which means the skin is also less affected.
That leaves nicotine, which is harmful to health, even in the form of vapor. Fortunately, with e-cigarettes, you always have control over how much nicotine you want to take in.

Weight Gain When you Switch to Vaping

Time and time again, you hear about people who have gained a lot of weight after quitting smoking. But when you suddenly give up nicotine, your body is looking for replacement satisfaction, which manifests in increased appetite.
This terrible scenario can be avoided with a less drastic solution: switching to e-cigarettes. The obvious advantage: while getting rid of many harmful substances and residues of tobacco combustion, you still have the opportunity to supply your body with nicotine. Over time, you will be able to reduce your nicotine levels at your own pace gradually.
This way, you won't suffer as much from withdrawal symptoms and won't have to worry about gaining weight.

Vaping Instead of Smoking - so how does the Transition Work?

So, how do you quit smoking and switch to the best vaporizer? A British National Institute for Health Research and the Cancer Research Foundation UK study tested using e-cigarettes to help people quit smoking. It found that stopping smoking with e-cigarettes was significantly more promising than using other nicotine replacement products.
Despite the wide range of devices and flavors available, such a move is not a win-win. Many people fail after just a few days and reach for cigarettes again. The reason: the wrong strategy is chosen. But what does it take to quit smoking for good?
Most people make a big mistake when transitioning: they use liquids with a too fruity and sweet taste and too low nicotine content. As a result, vaping is not perceived as a full-fledged replacement for cigarettes. The difference in taste is too great, and the nicotine addiction is not fully satisfied. For this reason, it is better to use tobacco liquids with a higher nicotine content in the beginning. For example, if you have smoked cigarettes with a 12 mg nicotine content before, liquids with a similarly high nicotine content are recommended. What at first glance seems counterproductive makes sense in the long run because the sensation of this smoking is very similar to that of a cigarette, which makes the transition much easier. Furthermore, once you get used to the new circumstances, you can gradually reduce the nicotine content and feel free to experiment with new flavors.
Depending on nicotine content, it is advisable to adjust the amount of vapor and draw resistance on the device. With higher nicotine levels, less power and higher draw resistance are usually the better solutions.
On the other hand, if you are vaping with less nicotine, it makes sense to increase the power and decrease the draw resistance. Most devices have an appropriate airflow control system and buttons to adjust the power.
It is important that you feel comfortable while vaping. For example, you should reduce the amount of steam if you have a strong coughing fit. It is also important that you do not take short, sharp puffs as you do with a tobacco cigarette. With an e-cigarette, you inhale slowly, for about three seconds, before inhaling the vapor.
The most important factor for success is your inner attitude. Only if you are truly convinced and accept e-cigarettes as a real alternative to tobacco consumption will you be able to switch to them successfully.
Switching to e-cigarettes has already helped many people reduce their tobacco consumption or stop smoking altogether. Choose the best portable vaporizer and stick to the above tips, and the transition will become easier.
The habit of tobacco smoking can form on the nervous mail, so it is quite problematic to get rid of it. That is why you should think carefully before you start smoking.
