Catholic Prayers Before Meals - Prayers To Make Before Every Meal
Catholics and other Christians believe that everything good in our lives comes from God, and we are often told to keep this in mind.
Too often, we think that the good things in our lives are the result of our own hard work.
We forget that the talents and good health that allow us to do the hard work that puts food on the table and a roof over our heads are also gifts from God.
There aren't many set prayers for Catholic prayers before meals, but it's common for these prayers to be changed to fit the needs of a particular family.

When we say the traditional Catholic "Grace" prayer before a meal, we admit that we need God and ask Him to bless us and our food. This prayer is a little different from the traditional grace prayer that is said after a meal.
The traditional grace prayer is usually a prayer of thanks for the food we just ate. A traditional grace said before a meal goes like this:
Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let's think three times as we eat this meal together in front of our Heavenly Father. First, let's think about the people we're with on this day and enjoy the pleasure of eating and drinking together.
Then, let's think about the people who made the food and drinks and brought them to us, as well as those who serve us, wait on us, and clean up after us. Lastly, let's think about all the people around the world, who are part of the same human family as us, who won't eat today. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Our Father, who lives in heaven, may Thy name be holy. Come, thy kingdom. Do your will on earth just as it is done in heaven. Give us what we need today and forgive us for our mistakes, just as we forgive those who do wrong to us. And don't lead us into temptation; instead, save us from bad things. Amen.
Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. Lord, please help. Christ and God will bless.
We ask You, Christ, God, through the prayers of our holy Fathers, to bless this food and drink for Your servants, because You are holy always, now, and forever. Amen.
Father, we are having a meal together in your honor. Thank You for making us a family, and thank You for this food. Bless our bodies with it, Lord. We appreciate all the gifts you've given to the people here.
God, please bless us. God, please bless our food and drink. Since you bought us back so dearly and saved us from harm, give us a piece of eternal life just like you gave us a piece of this food.
Thank you, Father, for this delicious food. Please pray for the people who made this delicious meal for us. We want your Holy Spirit to be with us as we enjoy this special time together. Lord, may we celebrate the love and goodness you give us every day as we eat and drink.
Grace prayers are recited before meals by Catholics less frequently than in the past, but it would be worthwhile to bring back this practice. While the prayer of grace said before meals includes requests to God for His providence, thanksgiving for all the wonderful things that God has provided us, and prayers of intercession for those who have assisted us.
